Mike Hackley with ShoppersChoice.com In this episode today, we are going to do one of my favorites to Cajun Charcoal Grill. And, the reason this is one of my favorite of course that it is made right here in Louisiana and has been made since 1963 by the Gitary’s, right Gitary initially invented this. His two son’s have went on and just kept making the grill but the other than fact that is Louisiana growing grill in Cajun grown grill of course hence that is where the name came from.
We are going to cook on this thing today we are going to kind of show you everything about the grill. We will go to the warranties and stuff for that nature and show you the insides the meat and guts as we call it. And so, let us get started.
Right now, you have the Cajun 100 this is the second largest charcoal grill that they have. It has 34 by 21 cooking area, they do make one that bigger, that is right that is six foot long and it is called the Cajun stretch grill. These grills you can get them in black carbon steel or you can get them in all stainless.
The exterior of this grill is made of 16 gauge carbon steel with 1200° high heat paint on it. You know getting it weathered, you can leave it out on the weather or you can go ahead and get the stainless version of this, where, you never, never have to worry about taking care of them because it is not going to wear for a lifetime. We are going to go ahead open this dude and again you can get a temperature gauge as an accessory and it does not come with one. Some people refer cooking with them some refer not cooking with them. A lot of people were taking or use these digital thermometers that are out to where they could just check the heat when they lift the lid on it.
Me, personally I like cooking with it so always use one and then you got these heavy, heavy recreant which are made in two pieces with porcelain coated, they are four gauge and they are very, very thick, very, very heavy.
And again, I mentioned this particular unit that comes with two pieces a smaller unit it only has one pull piece and that is your Cajun 200, just because it is a smaller cooking service and this is much larger. So, let us say you want to add some charcoal on this thing while you are cooking and you see the smoke coming out and put a little extra charcoal in and a little extra wood put it back on it makes it real easy to cook for a long periods of time.
Again, 16 gauge exterior 1200 degree high heat paint. The actual charcoal tray on this thing is 12 gauge, it has a ten year unconditional warranty on it in other words if you mistreat or missed use it or whatever in ten years they are going to replace this charcoal grill.
Exterior has a five year warranty on it in ten days with the exception of the paint encircles for us because again a few scratches thing on the outside and you got bare metal showing of course you going to get served with rust. So, you always want to make sure that if you that, you patch up a little bit.
You get will 1200 degree paint at any storage store. You do not have to that often because one of the things is when you first get the grill you got to break it in. They have breaking instruction and it is a slow process which is over couple of hours to where it makes the paint bond to the metal.
So, unless you take something and really scratch it, it is never going to rust on you. And then of course you know is always good to get covers on these things or any grill to make it last a little bit longer Cajun grill also comes with one side shelf right here.
A couple of the accessories that you can get for this and I will show you real quick is what they call a water paint and our deflector paint and what happens is you put this deflector right over the top with your charcoal tray and you put water in it so when you are rotesting or if you want to keep moisture in the meat like if you do not have brisket part very well done and you put water in this thing.
And, again the really wonderful thing about this particular grill is the fact that you can raise and lower your charcoal tray, you get almost right about 12 inches of depth of this thing. Unbelievable control if you want to do steaks, pick it up, it is a getting a little too hot for you, drop at one and you got seven adjustment on this all the way down to the bottom. Absolutely incredible on this grill. The other thing really nice about it and always preach these--
