Hi, my name is Nina and we’re at Obi Sushi in Reston Town Center today with Mr. Tenzen and he is going to be showing you how to make a California roll.
California roll, usually when you buy the bamboo, it does not come with the plastic there and you have to put a plastic there. This one, here, there’s a plastic. While we put the plastic, when we put the rice in here and turn around, when we make a rice, roll it, the rice will stick in here. If you put the plastic, it won’t stick on the bamboo, that’s the problem. And California roll, we need like a crab stick and avocado, usually like that. You use a crab stick, it’s already cooked and avocados, vegetable alright. So two stuffs why I’m using this, you can get everything in the Asian grocery store. You can get like seaweed, crab stick and avocado and even the bamboos and some stuff. In some Asian grocery, you even get a knife too.
So now, I make the California roll. When you make the California roll, rice like that, that has to be a little bit and more that like a tuna roll. So, do like here. You need to put sesame seed, turn around, see. I put the plastic that’s why it does not stick on the bamboo. If I don’t pit a plastic on it, the rice will stick on the bamboo definitely. Now I want to stick the other from over here and another one is here, alright.
You see, like that. So everything is stuffed--you have to put inside the seaweed, let it inside. So when you press it, it will come out automatically. So it’s like there. Now you see, same as the tuna roll but you just only-- the seaweed is inside, the rice is outside, the rice is outside. So you see. That was one, another too. There you go, California roll. And one, two, three, that’s the California roll.
