Can I take omega-3s if I’m allergic to fish or nuts? Sue Brennan: On the omega-3 products, if a person is allergic to fish, it’s probably best to avoid. People that have fish allergies can often get severe reactions and I wouldn’t take it unless you were advised to do so by your doctor. When it comes to nuts, I guess, the same cautions. You can certainly look at the source of the omega 3s and avoid those that are sourced from nuts and I think the ALA products may be more sourced from nuts. So those, again, be cautious and use only with a doctor’s approval.
