Majority of patients within 2-8 weeks, after the onset of the disease, an initiation of insulin treatment have very small insulin requirement. It's called the honeymoon period or honeymoon phase, but this period lasts only from few weeks to few years sometimes. Ultimately, the body develops full dependence on insulin treatment.
