The British general of ophthalmology just published an article called medical myth and in that article they described how this myth came about. If you read in dim light, you can develop some eye strain or focussing issues. But you are not going to do any permanent damage to your eyes. So go ahead, dim those lights if its helps you wind down and enjoy your book.
