Steve Turano : I am Steve Turano, Welcome to this episode of Body Performance. I received wonderful email throughout the week. Most of them are great. I received a few that are not really nice, and I received a few that are down right nasty. But I received one from somebody who said, you know Steve you are way off. If you drink a cold glass of water, 16 ounces on empty stomach, it will speed up your metabolism by 30% for the entire day. And I said, you mean, if I have take in 2000 calories, I am going to burn up an additional 600, because I drank a cold glass of water?
He said, oh, no, no way. it's just for the hour. It will speed up the metabolism for the hour, and the 30% is pretty significant, that's equivalent to walking a mile. It's not going to happen. It's just 16 ounces of water, and how cold is it? Believe me, when you drink a cold glass of water, it doesn't stay cold for very long, and because it's such a small amount of water, your body doesn't work at all to heat it up. You are such a large mass, and by contact or conduction, that water heats up rather quickly. In other words when you drink a hot cup of coffee, how hot does it stay? It cools down rather fast. Also if water actually cause weight loss, it will be splashed up all over TV, because it doesn't actually happen. Just like they shut down, the Milk Industry were saying, three glasses of milk a day causes weight loss. If these are the things you are relying on, if these are the things you are hoping on, these are things you are doing to cause weight loss, unfortunately you are not going to achieve your goals, and you will be sadly upset.
