Sangelie has these cookies that she calls peppermint snowballs. Well she has visions of cookies going through her head during the holidays, I have visions of cocktail. So I came up with something I call the candy cane cooler.
I got to head start on my cocktail yesterday and I infused some mint leaves into my vodka. Now all of this does is it gives it a nice natural minty flavor. If you don’t have time for this, it's really not a big deal. It's just a little extra added fresh mint flavor.
So now what I'm going to do is I'm going to take one tablespoon of crushed candy cane and add it to a pint glass. Okay, just do it. Then I'm going to add 1 ½ ounces of my infused vodka. I'm going to pour that on the glass. And then I'm going to start crushing this up. You really want to get the flavor and the sweetness from the candy cane because that's what’s really going to make this into a candy cane cooler.
What I love about the candy cane is that it's going to turn this cocktail so pretty and pink. So once I've crushed up my candy canes, I'm going to add half an ounce of brandy to this. Brandy is really going to make this drink special. Okay here we go and then half an ounce of half and half. Now you can definitely use low-fat or whole milk, but during the holidays I like to think it's time to indulge. And that's going to make this drink extra creamy and rich.
Okay I'm just going to stir this up. Now I'm going to fill up my glass with some ice cubes. Okay and I'm going to pour my cocktail into the glass. I'm going to garnish it with a candy cane. Stir it around and a sprig of mint. It's time to give this a try.
It's creamy and it's minty and it has that warming kick from the brandy. This candy cane cooler on the rocks, rocks.
