In order to erase one picture, all you need to do is just press the Play button down here and you will get to see the last picture that was taken on the memory card. To move through the pictures, you can press the left or right navigation buttons and when you see a picture that you want to delete, just press the Trashcan button right here.
The camera will ask you whether you want to erase the picture or cancel. Move over to Erase and press Set. I can fit more images on the screen by zooming out. And then moving to the picture that I want to erase, pressing the Trashcan button, move over to Erase and then press Set.
Now, if I have a lot of pictures that I want to erase, doing at one at a time can be very inefficient. What I want to do instead is press the Menu button, move over to the Playback tab and go down to erase images.
Now press Set, choose Select and Erase images, press Set. I can move through the images by using the left and right navigation buttons. And by using the Up or Down navigation buttons, I can leave a check mark by every picture that I want to have erased.
Here right now, I have zero pictures that I want to erase. And if I check this box, you will see one picture now is in the list. If I move over and check this box, you can see now I have two pictures that are ready to be erased.
Down here you will see that I need to press the Erase button, this Trashcan button and the camera will ask me whether I want to erase all the pictures that I have selected. I will cancel this for now and just press menu to escape. Down here you have the option of just erasing all the pictures on the memory card. And if that is what you want to do is erase all the pictures on the memory card, I would not recommend using this option.
This option is great for when you want to save just a few pictures on the memory card and erase most of the pictures on the memory card.
And the way you do that is press Menu to go back to the Playback tab, go up to protect images, press Set. And same thing where I would leave a check mark by all the pictures that I wanted to erase, I would put a key on every picture that I want t o protect. So, for example, if I want to protect this image I will just press Set and a key is indicated that this picture has been protected and this picture as well and I can just keep going through all the pictures that I want to protect.
Okay, so let us say I have 200 pictures on my memory card but I really only want to save four of those images so I’ve protected the four that I want. I press Menu to go back, go down to erase images, press Set and then go down to all images on card then press Set and choose to erase all the images. And you can see here, it say’s accept the images that are protected. I am going to cancel this and press Menu.
If you want to actually erase all the images on the memory card as I mentioned before what I would highly recommend doing is formatting the memory card.
Go over to the first Set Up tab and go down to Format. Now, press Set. It will show you how full the memory card is. And down here, I can just move over to OK and then press Set. And then it’ll format the entire memory card. This will actually erase all pictures including any images that has been protected.
And the reason why this is better than choosing the erase all function is because this will clean the memory card of all files including files and pictures that this camera can’t see so when you have the camera connected to a computer, sometimes the computer can leave erroneous files on that memory card. And those files may cause problems later on.
So, what I recommend doing is formatting the memory card as supposed to choosing erase all in order to erase those files as well as any pictures that maybe on the memory card. Press Set when the OK button is highlighted to OK this function and format the entire memory card. I will go back to Cancel and press Set to escape.
