In order to change the metering mode with this camera you have to be using one of the creative modes, which means tuning your mode dial to either P, TV, AV, M or automatic deplafield.
Anyone of this modes will give you full control over the muttering mode, currently my muttering mode is up to valuated it is indicated right here and in order to change this just press the up navigation button and select what ever muttering mode I prefer.
By default, the mutterings is up to evaluative muttering which means the camera is looking at the entire scene to select the proper shatter speed and aperture for a well-exposed image. If I go down to aperture mutterings and looking at the smaller portion of the screen in the center.
If I go down to a spot meter, it is looking at a much smaller spot, right in the center of the screen and this is great for back lights subjects or a very small subjects that you want to have well exposed and do not really care about the rest of the picture. So if what you want is a small spot meter right in the center surrounding the center focusing point, choose spot meter just press set and the spot meter option is selected.
