In this video, I am going to show you how to do the card fan, which is spreading up the cards evenly in your one hand. It looks kind of slick and if you will do card tricks where you kind of hold up the cards like this, it looks better if you go like this and say, “Pick a card, any card”.
Now, there are two ways to do this. There is the one-handed way, which is like that. First of all, the one-handed way, I will show you how to do that.
If you can snap your fingers, you can do this one-handed way. Stick your thumb at one side and your middle finger on the other side and you just snap, and they come out like that. I do not prefer that way. I prefer the two-handed way, but if you like to do the one-handed way, you can do it.
All right. Now, two-handed way. This is what you position in first. You need your index and your middle finger placed on one side and you want your thumb on the other side, so it looks like that. With your thumb, you need to find the point pressure like I found it right in the middle, but other people may find it right here, right here.
I will show you the difference of what it looks like. In the middle, it will look like that and I kind of like it that way. But some people might find it right here when I spread it out. This just looks like a different spread. Or they might find it over on this side. Let me spread it out. That also looks like a different spread, but it is all up to your preferences, whatever you think is easiest. I find it right in the middle of there the easiest.
Now, spreading it out, you need to apply a lot of pressure with your thumb, so that it pivots with your thumb and it does not fall out of your hand. When you spread them out, when you have them with your fingers like this and spread them out with your thumb—your other thumb, and just kind of spread it around, like this, kind of like beveling the cards with your other thumb. When you get better at it, you can just do it quickly and it looks kind of cool. It looks really cool, just like that.
It takes a lot of practice. It took me a long time to learn it, to finally learn how to do it correctly, and I am still messing up every now and then. But once you learn how to do it, you can play poker with friends or whatever. You can just do this and just show off, go like this. Just kind of spread up the cards from the last two videos, that type of stuff and it all looks really cool when you are playing poker, with cards—anything with cards.
I suggest you use a new deck with all of these cards to practice it, but once you get better at doing it, you can just do this with any deck of cards, if they are not sticky.
Well, that is how you do the card fan. Thank you.
