What if I don’t see the cat I’m looking for at a shelter or rescue?
You may not see the cat that you thought you were looking for a particular shelter or
rescue. That’s why it is very important to enter into this process sort of very slowly, very
carefully, very thoughtfully. You may have gone in, thinking that you were going to
really get your heart set on an orange tubby and suddenly you find a little black kitty that
really speaks to you. I would say that multiple visits to your shelter or your rescue are
very important. First of all, could do a real chance to get to know maybe those one or two
cats that you really kind of felt the connection with that first time you were there. It also
allows you to see if any other cats have come into the system in between your visits. It
allows you to further explore your relationship with the shelter staff, who are very
important in helping you to really create the connection with the animal that’s right for
you.
