Cataracts Explained

Cataract is the lens inside the eye losing its transparency. If you think of the eye being like a camera, a good camera has a good fixed focus lens and a good zoom lens. Around the age of 40, that zoom lens inside the eye starts to stiffen and also starts to lose its transparency. So that lens can go from being crystal clear inside the eye to becoming opaque like a dirty windshield, and as such, the patient can't see well through it and we replace that dirty windshield with a brand new lens at the time of cataract surgery so that people can see again.
