Claire Robinson at Food Network has such an outstanding recipe for a traditional tripping. When I tried it, all I could think of is that it had a calling for Chai tea. But not just any tea, it’s Chai toddy
So I went to the grocery store and I picked up a Chai tea concentrate. Now you can get Chai tea in a concentrate form. It also comes in tea bags and in powder. Chai tea is an ancient blend of spirit and spice. Now, you have some more exotic spices like cardamon, all spice and star anise. And then some more well known spices like cinnamon clove and ginger.
What I have in here is a concentrate and I’m going to add equal parts of milk too. I have here whole milk just because I want the extra richness. But certainly, you can use non-fat or low-fat. So at this point if I want it spice it up a little more, I can. Now I’m going to throw one star anise. Oh, yeah. Right so now that this has come to into a simmer, it’s time to start making our toddy.
All right, so now, I’m going to add one ounce of cognac to my glass. Then I’m going to top it of with my Chai tea. And now to tie in the buttery flavor of clear short bread, I have decided to put a little bit of butter scotch liqueur on top of my toddy. Then finish it off with a little bit of ground clove. And now it’s time to taste the toddy. It’s so spicy and buttery. Just deep one of Claire’s cookies in here. Oh, yeah, this two go hand in hand.
