iOS4 First Look. Part Five of Five: Other new features in iOS4
Sean Carruthers: Hi! I'm Sean Carruthers from butterscotch.com and welcome tutorial series on iOS4 the new mobile operating system from Apple. We've got a bit of a grab bag for you on other features that you'll find inside iOS4. First, one is the ability to change your search engine. Now when you go into Safari at the moment with older version, you'll have the option of Google as your default. You'll see up here it still says Google in the corner, so when you search for something it will come back from the Google search engine. You can actually change it to one or the other options and are now available.
So if you go into setting and you go down to Safari, you'll see how the search engine option, if you click it you have Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft's new search engine Bing. So if you preferred use Bing as your search engines, you would click that and then go back to Safari and when you do a search in Safari now, it'll actually say Bing in the corner and all your search results will come from Bing.
Second option is wallpaper. So you have the ability to put wallpaper on your home screen for while, now we also have the option to put a different lock screen and wallpaper, we've got a little bit of water condensation on the back of the screen here and now we can change this, if we go back to our settings on here and we notice we have the wallpaper option from our main settings option, click through to that and we see we actually have the lock screen and we have the main screen. So we can click through, click on one of these, choose wallpaper, choose one of these other things, so that one right there, wallpaper preview, we can hit set and you will get the option here to set it as our lock screen, to set it as our home screen or to set it as both. And now when we go back here, we have it as our wallpaper and when we shutdown the phone and then turn back on again it'll also be our lock screen, so this looks a little bit like Andrew Mark Smith's iPad.
And also one other option in here. So when you type in this, in the past it has always given suggestions as you're typing for things that you might actually be saying, so if I type something incorrectly it'll give me that as an option. I wanted to type, type rather than typt, but I'm just going to ignore that and we continue to miss type things.
Now you'll notice when you go forward it actually underlines these options which is something it didn't in the past and we have the option now to go back in and click on this and it'll give us under the various options of things that we wanted to -- may have wanted to put it here, it does give us options here whereas before hand it may not have so.
No replacements found in this case, even though it was suggesting grubs earlier it's saying no replacements found, so it is not a 100%. It can only guess at your bad typing, so for but it does give you after the fact type correction now as opposed to just on the fly. Anyways that's a look at some of the extra features found in iOS4, the new mobile operating system from Apple.
