Hi, this is Francisco Bujan from vitalcoaching.com and we are talking about waking up your power and topic for this video is “change one thing at a time”.
This is the one of the key strategy that you can start applying straight away, checking one thing at a time. Why? I mean why not change a lot of things at the same time; because it is stressful, because it has lots of tensioning in your system when you are changing a lot of things at the same time.
We have certain amount of energy that we can use everyday to change things. Another part of our energy is “focused” on maintaining things the way they are. If you look at your day, I mean a lot of your habits behaviors attitudes or actions are aimed at maintaining whatever exists, ‘right’.
You are going to do a lot of things just simply aim at preserving the environment; your life, the way it is and in these cycles of actions, every now and then; you have an idea about something new that you can add to your life that is not yet there. Supposed that, let is take an example, if you want to make change in your diet, eat more fruits for instance. This changing itself is going to have new impact in your emotional body and your physical body.
It means that you are going to take a little bit of time to put in place these changes. Most of the times you are going to focus on that specific strategy supposing that you want to double the amount of fruits that you eat in the week; then focusing on that specific target are going to require certain amount of energy. If you decide at the same time to engage into a new business, break up with your partner, change house, all that is going make a loose focus on this very simple target that you have; which was to eat more fruit.
Okay, so you realize that change requires focus and requires energy and you only have certain amount of energy a day which is dedicated to change. Precisely because change requires energy in focus, try it out and you will see what happens if you use to have changing job, changing partners, changing city where you live. Sometimes the circumstances are going to force you to change a lot of things at the same time. These are circumstances that you have made little choices. Very often if you have the choices, it is better to change one thing at a time.
For instances, focus on carry of change for a month or three months maybe,-and that is the main element where you are focusing your energy. We want to carry a change. Maybe the following three months, you are going focus a bit more on ‘you know’ more healthy lifestyle for instance, you think more healthy— going to the gym, these kind of things. Maybe in another period of your life, you are going to focus a little bit more on the relationships or maybe dealing with issues that you might be facing in your relationships for instance.
So, you see that-when you make compartments and divide it with your life, that makes it much easier to deal with the specific challenges of that specific life area. Again you can try it out, you would see what happens if you focus on change a lots of thing at the same time there it happen you do not have energy enough, enough momentum, enough motivation for change all that at once. And then I will give you the example of the changing and something in your diet and that is one specific area where you can experiment; try when you want to change something.
You know again for instance, I eat more food or eating smaller portions or eating more meals on the day and when you have like dozen maybe, possible diet or nutrition’s strategy is, that you can apply that are going to improve your diet and improve your health. If you start modifying all of them at the same time, it is going to be challenging. So modify one or when you add one change and practice that for a week and once you integrate these new hobbies. You focus on put on one of this, is the way of changing your diet and that will work for you very well but, you can apply the exact same strategy for any area way of your life.
Of course, if you know that you focused one of those changing at the changes in your life, you do not have to focus for three months. It depends on the target that you have in your mind. Sometimes, from changing house or moving from new city, it might as well keep you busy for a month and during that time, you want to keep your friends, you want to maintain your career or your job or maintain your relationship and once this change is made, you can act in to other aspects.
