Tenacity. Taylor Hamilton, does that name ring your bell? What did you do last year? I am sorry, what did you do the year before as well? Yeah, what did you do last year? Fourth, with a broken collar bones second, with a broken shoulder? Tenacity, how much tenacity, how tenacious are you? It's a word looking up in the dictionary. You get the real meaning, and find it in you and use it. Do you do focusing exercises?
When I am in spinning class, the rogue has checkered pattern and in each square -- that's a square really -- In each square are two symbols. It can look like a variety of different things. I won't tell you all the things that I would see in this one symbol periodically. I like thinking in pictures. I have redesigned houses and then go to an architect and say "Draw this." "This can't be done" he says. I will pay you to draw, you draw it here it is. I have designed charts, worked with artists. I'd love doing that. Am I just -- I don't have the skill to draw, but I have the skill to communicate and work with the artists until we get what we want.
So, I will pick a square out there. Sometimes I will pick a square out there, sometimes I will pick a square here or anywhere in between, but I'll pick a square and that's my square for that hour. Now do you think I stayed locked on that square for that hour? Can't, can not. All of a sudden, I find I am all over the place. What? Back to the square. That's the goal. As soon as I become aware that I have lost my square, my job is to refocus on the square. I don't care why I lost my focus; I don't care how long ago I lost my focus. What I care about is bringing in awareness to the fact that I lost my focus and coming back into focus.
Now this sounds like a silly thing to do. But, if you have lost your focus while in a triathlon, Oh! Imagine that how many hours and you might lose your focus a few times. You think you are going to be able to come back into focus, if you haven't been practicing doing that? You are wrong. Are you going to be able to run a Marathon if you haven't trained your quads and your whole body to run a Marathon? No, come on let's do it. I want you to do it. They are not going to do it unless you train them. You train your quads, train your mind. Find focusing and refocusing exercises, no matter how lame they may seem to you.
I look at my odometer a lot. I am not obsessive, compulsive trust me. Its important for me to stay focussed when I am on the motorcycle at high speed or slow speed, doesn't make any difference. That keeps me alive. So practicing, focusing and refocusing is crucial.
My friend who was one of the finest motorcyclist, any of us have ever seen was interested to hear what is fellow troopers had to say about him. He won several top cop. It's like top gun, but on motorcycles top cop competitions on the motorcycle and I always contend that we have about five seconds allowable brain fade on the motorcycle before we crash and burn.
Here it was. Alright, I have been running and feel like your feet start to get a little heavy. What do you do? What you are going to do? Make them lighter; visualize making them lighter so that you can move. I mean these are my visualizations here just? These are just ideal --
