Riding the bus, it's like being a kid again. Trudy can you tell me what is a chartered bus?
Trudy: A chartered bus, most people would assume a school bus would carry just children but we actually also do a lot of adult charters as well. Most adults when they’re looking to rent a vehicle for any kind of transportation event or transported event usually think of renting a coach but the school bus is actually a fraction of the cost of a coach. So if you're doing a short trip where you don’t need a bathroom, school buses are definitely the more economical way to go.
Tracy: can you give us some examples of where an adult would be renting this and taking it to?
Trudy: There are many actually. They go to—we do a lot of casino runs for adults. We do a lot of senior citizens will rent the bus to go to Cellars or shoppers mart, things like that. We do a lot of proms, weddings.
Tracy: See people would rent this for their wedding, I guess taking the traditional transportation then kind of make it more funky and arriving in a bus, would it just be for their wedding party?
Trudy: Absolutely. We've had wedding parties that we all show up and we actually will decorate the vehicles inside and out. But also more often probably, we rent the vehicles as a shuttle bus for the guests to go from either the reception to the church to the reception or from the reception back to their hotel so that people aren’t drinking and driving.
Tracy: Oh that sounds like a lot of fun.
Trudy: Yeah.
Tracy: if I was going out with a bunch of girls for a wine tasting for one night. I wouldn’t need the room that the school bus has. Do you have different sizes to accommodate to the size or the group of people that are going out?
Trudy: Yes, we absolutely do. We actually charter our buses from over 100 locations in Canada. Each location has different variety of vehicles. We have smaller vehicles that hold up to 20 people. We have wheelchair accessible vehicles and then we have the traditional school bus that will hold 48 adults.
Tracy: So there’s a bus for any location.
Trudy: Absolutely.
Tracy: Would the driver of the bus of a chartered bus go through the same training as a typical school bus driver?
Trudy: Absolutely. All of our drivers go through the exact same training with addition for our chartered drivers. We do a customer service training on top of that because they are dealing with different groups of customers other then just students.
Tracy: Can you give me an example of what sort of things could happen on an adult bus?
Trudy: Well there’s just as anything can happen when children on the vehicle, it's exactly the same with adults. They have fun. It allows them to socialize a little more. There is lots of room for them to communicate better on the trip and they just makes it more fun on the road.
