Thief or service plans also known as indemnity plans are the most expensive health insurance plans and involve the most paper work. HMO’s or health maintenance organizations are the least expensive and the least flexible health insurance plans. HMO’s provide you with a network of doctors, which you must use. PPO or preferred provider organizations cause slightly more than HMO’s but are more flexible. If you see a none network specialist you may have to pay for the entire bill, pay the difference between network charges and what the specialist charges or pay a deductible. Point of service plans cause more than PPO’s unless than fee for service plans and are for the two plans.
These plans provide you with a network of physicians who will treat you. Your co-payment is about the same as that of your PPO which you can see a non-network physician and the plan will reimburse him or her.
