Now, we are going to move on to the more athletic part of cheerleading, which are jumps. There are two jumps. There is a Toe Touch and there is also the Side Hurdler, the two universal jumps.
Keisha is going to demonstrate first the universal approach. [Demonstration] For the universal approach, Keisha is going to clap on one, hit a nice strong high V. From here, she is going to swing through, bringing those arms up straight to a T, and then squat and stand up on one. Let us see that one more time. [Demonstration]
Our first universal jump will be the Toe Touch. Keisha is going to demonstrate. [Demonstration] For the toe touch, it is going to be that same universal approach. She is going to hit that high V, swinging through, this time, both legs is going to come up. Notice that she is going to reach through, her knees pointed up, toes are pointed out. She comes back down and stands up nice and strong on one. Let us see that one more time. [Demonstration]
Our next jump is the Side Hurdler. [Demonstration] One drill you can do for the Side Hurdler is you can sit on the floor. This is whichever leg you feel better with. You have the universal approach in that nice T, one leg comes out straight, knees up, toe is pointed. The back leg is bent almost like you are on a table. That will be the end result and then you will come back to the start position. Keisha will demonstrate Side Hurdler. [Demonstration]
