Oh, I just love this dried cherry almond cookies with vanilla icing. Giada-De Laurentiis came up with this recipe and I think that they kind of trap up all the wonderful flavors of the holiday season. And I’m hoping to do the same with this cocktail I’ve come up but called the Cherry Splash.
We’re going to start off by putting some ice cubes into my shaker here. Then I’m going to add two ounces of white rum. And this comes from sugar cane. It’s got a pretty neutral flavor but it’s pretty strong. So two ounces of this into my shaker, and then half an ounce of cherry liqueur. This is really going to represent the flavor of the cherries from the cookies.
Here we go. Now, I’m going to add in half an ounce of amaretto which is an almond flavored liqueur. And this is going to give us cocktail, really nice sweet almond flavor. Okay, in the shaker. I’m going to shake it out. All right! Just throw ice cubes in. Pour it out, look at that beautiful amaretto color. To finish it off this cocktail, I’m going to squeeze in a wedge of lime to give it a nice citrus zing. And I top it up with the maraschino cherry and pour in some maraschino cherry juice. Just to give it the wonderful cherry splash.
And the only thing that this cocktail might be missing is the vanilla icing. Let’s give it a try. Wow! The almond liqueur, the sugar cane rum, and the cherry liqueur, this will put a little cherry splash in anyone’s holiday. Cheers!
