The sicilian defense has many variations, this is the accelerated dragon. The 8th move Na5 makes no sense and it's not part of the opening. This is why the black position collapses. Instead the move should have been d6, which protects the e5 square and gives the Knight on f6 the chance to escape

Hi. Thanks for the video. It would have been nice, however, to see the sicilian defense win. That would have been a good example of how to play the sicilian defense. Watching black lose discredits the sicilian defense. I am grateful nonetheless.

at 253 cant you just take his bishop first? then move knight after. if he takes with pawn u take back and win a pawn

Maybe they are just struggling with Enlgish, and this video is MEANT to show how the Sicilian defense collapses. Then again, I have no idea.

Chess- Learn the Sicilian defense

The Sicilian Defence is a chess opening that opens with the moves 1.e4 c5. At what is known as the master level, the Sicilian is the most popular and best-scoring response to White's first move 1.e4. One sixth (17 percent) of all games between grandmasters, and one quarter (25 percent) of the games in the Chess Informant database, begin with this opening. Grandmaster John Nunn notes that the reason for the Sicilian Defence’s popularity “is its combative nature; in many lines Black is playing not just for equality, but for the advantage. The drawback is that White often obtains an early initiative, so Black has to take care not to fall victim to a quick attack.” The earliest recorded notes on the Sicilian Defence date back to the late 16th century by the Italian chess players Giulio Polerio and Gioachino Greco. Gleb: Hi! In our days semi-open openings are very popular. White begins his game with e2 - e4, and black can choose between moves of Nf6, Alekhin defense, or e6, French defense, or d5 Scandinavian defense, except we move e5. But today we are going to see Sicilian defense, and it begins with move c7 - c5.

Igor: White goes, Nf3.

Gleb: Black develops his knight.

Igor: White take the center.

Gleb: Now, black exchanges pawns.

Igor: White exchanges pawn.

Gleb: In this situation black decides to put his bishop on the big diagonal.

Igor: Why black cannot take this knight?

Gleb: When black takes knight, white can take it back and the queen is very strong in the center. Open this diagonal.

Igor: I want to defend my knight with bishop.

Gleb: Bishop goes to g7.

Igor: White makes favorite move for the bishop, Bc4.

Gleb: Now black develops another knight and wants to capture this pawn.

Igor: White defends his pawn, Nc3.

Gleb: Black wants to protect his king and put him in the king side.

Igor: White wants to protect this bishop and puts bishop in the safe place, in b3.

Gleb: Yeah, he put bishop on the safe place, but black wants to change his knight by its bishop.

Igor: But this move is not good, knight goes to the side file.

Gleb: -- side file of the board.

Igor: -- of the board, and white goes to center.

Gleb: Okay. Now the knight has to escape. If the knight goes to h5, white can win it easily.

Igor: d2 - d4.

Gleb: In our game, knight goes to e8.

Igor: It's an idea for forfeiture. Bishop takes this pawn, check!

Gleb: This is very beautiful sacrifice. If black takes with bishop by rook --

Igor: White goes, Ne6.

Gleb: The queen has no place to escape and if black takes another piece, he has lost the queen and lost the game. Black choose to take this bishop with his king.

Igor: But white goes to put as risk.

Gleb: Black takes another piece.

Igor: White goes and make check.

Gleb: King has to escape.

And once the King starts to travel, it is the beginning of the end...

Igor: I go, this pawn, check! Rook, check! Rook goes to center, check!

Gleb: Another check.

Igor: Check! The queen makes check.

Gleb: Take the pawn.

Igor: Check mate!!
