Chess With Friends is a multiplayer chess game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This game allows you to play against your contacts with this game or against a random user.
The interface is pretty simple and easy to use. You do need to create an account that ties to your device to use this game. That way, when someone wants to invite you to a game, they just go through their contacts list in the app itself. Considering you’re entering your phone number, it’s surprising that they don’t actually use your phone number to alert you of a move through text message. You’ll actually have to open the app to see if it’s your turn.
Once you have a game going, you’ll just be following the basic rules of chess. If you’re new to chess, tapping on a piece will actually show you where you can and can’t move. Once you move you’ll have to wait for your opponent to move and the server to send a response. You can actually see if the opponent is looking at your game, shown by the eyeballs on both the game screen and the main screen.
As you continue to win or lose, your record is saved below your current games. This game becomes fairly addicting and you’ll find yourself looking at it constantly. With a better alert system, this game would be amazing, but even without it, this is definitely a great game for anyone with and iPhone or iPod Touch.
