Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept Review
Hi! I’m Mike Henley with Cars.com, and we’re here at the Detroit Auto Show checking
out the Chevy Aveo RS. It’s a performance-theme version of the hatchback. And even
though it’s technically a show car, which means it’s not on sale right now, it strongly
hints at what the next generation Aveo is going to look like.
Now, Chevrolet dialed up the exterior aggressiveness of the Aveo RS, to show what
tuners might do to this new car. It has 19-inch alloy wheels, a big massive front grille,
and quad headlights that feature halos kind of like the ones you’ve seen on BMW models.
Now, the quad headlights will carry over to the production model, but don’t look for the
halos.
Now, to complement the Aveo RS’s aggressive exterior looks, it’s powered by a 1.4-liter
of 4-cylinder that’s turbo-charged, and makes 138 horsepower. And that engine teams
with a 6-speed manual transmission. Now, it hasn’t been confirmed whether turbo is
going to be offered in this car, but it is a production motor as it goes in the Chevy cruise.
The current Aveo has a pretty basic interior, but with this new RS model that hints at
what’s coming for the Aveo, it’s definitely raised the bar in terms of interior quality. It
has this unique digital analog gauge pod, and also a center control panel that closely
resembles the one in the new Chevy Cruise.
Pricing information hasn’t been announced yet for the Aveo. It’s too early for that. But
from the looks of what Chevy’s trying to do with this model, it looks like the more
premium interior and more assertive exterior styling are going to position this car better
to compete with models like the Honda Fit, and Nissan Versa.
