Arthur St. Antoine: If there were a sports car that needed no introduction, it's this one. Easily the most talked about automobile for 2009; this is Chevrolet's awesome Corvette ZR1. A front mounted V8, 6.2 liter super charge, making 638 horsepower, driving the rear wheels through a 6-Speed Manual transmission. It's going to be spectacular to watch Chevrolet's blue devil tear up Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca. Let's check it out.

Well Randy if our Motor Trend readers have a favorite car, it's probably this one, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, 638 supercharge, horsepower, the ultimate Corvette, what do you think?
Randy Pobst: That was one wild ride. This ZR1 had a pretty happy tail. It would move around a fair amount. In fact it's one of the very few cars I have eve driven here, Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca where I didn't want to keep my foot down over turn two. I just was not getting messages from the car, that it was going to be stable enough to go right over that brown, still flat on the floor. Now part of the reason is it's so powerful. It was really rocking up that hill, but it is not as stable as the Audi R8. So it is a driver's car in the sense that, a driver must be very, very involved but not in the sense that it's extremely rewarding. It is still not a finesse car. It is a powerful, brutal, both hands on the wheel car, very satisfying getting really spanned in third gear corners. Drifting the car required a lot of skill, you better be good, don't turn off the active controls in that car unless you have had years of Skip barber work on the skip path. The power is fabulous. I like the shifter; throws kind of long, but it's accurate. The brake pedal was a little mushy but stopping was very strong. A lot of brake died in the car, which is not necessarily a bad thing. But it was obvious, whereas in the Audi it was invisible, I never felt it. It is a -- very much a car where you gotta be paying attention in being on your game if you are going to drive this car fast.
