Zach Rutledge: Hi everybody. Welcome to this episode of Doing Indy. I’m your host, Zach Rutledge. Well, I was in the move for a basketball fix, so I came down Indianapolis during the month of March and there’s no really better place to be. The city is hosting 38 games in 31 days having the men’s and women’s big team tournament, the Indiana Pacers, stay in high school play offs and the NCAA men’s regional. If you need your basketball fix there’s no really better place to be than right here in Indy.
Phil Borst: As we say in Indiana in 49 other states of basketball but in Indiana it is basketball. And I think that this city embraces it when you look at the streets gate and you see the signs up. You see all the restaurants and the hotels buying in into it and promoting it, and there’s just an aura and a feel here that you can’t get in other cities.
Male 1: Indianapolis has done a fantastic job with the Big Ten tournament, the parking even fabulous.
Female 1: Today I assigned everybody they are on bar and this is a Purdue bar.
Phil Borst: You park your car, you go to your hotel, you check in. You go to eat, you go to shop. You go to movie. You go to the games. There’s so much to do here.
Male 2: Everything is close by.
Female 2: Indianapolis is a great welcoming city to all fans coming from all over the country.
Male 3: This is a great place at the Big Ten, 30.
Phil Borst: There’s more than just basketball. We’re trying to expand on it. Make it a little better. There’s a pep rally on outside can see and feel the house. There’s the five T hoops run on Sunday before the men’s championship game. The courier x photo is unbelievable. What happens this year, we still have 46 corporations and we have over 1200 people looking for jobs.
Donna Wilkinson: Big Ten Career Expo was really conceived when Indianapolis was betting for the Big Ten tournament and we really wanted to differentiate this tournament in Indianapolis for the next five years.
This year we added new elements to the Career Expo and that is the panel with seven panelists for sports and be able to fill questions from the students, kind of break in to that industry which is inherently competitive, give them an edge as they look to either launch their career or change their career.
Zach Rutledge: All the basketball action has been happening in Indy has been leading out to the men’s regionals coming up at the end of March. Play for the very first time and look as well the stadium, and if that’s not enough to wait your basketball whistle, Indy will also play host to the 2010 and 2011 men’s and women’s final four. That’s all we have time for this episode of Doing Indy. I’m your host Zach Rutledge, we’ll see you next time.
