Raphael: Welcome to watchmoto.com. My name is Raphael. Today, we’ll be continuing our
restaurant segment. We’re here today at a Chinese restaurant. We’re going to be
speaking to her man who’s going to be telling us a little bit about Chinese food and
beverages and what to order at a Chinese restaurant.
Herman: Chinese food in north America is different because no matter what happens, it’s a
business, so your customers are not going to be Chinese also. It’s going to be one
people so you have to adapt the food to their taste. Chinese food in north America is
based on Chinese cooking from Asia but it will never be exactly the same unless you’re
in Chinatown where most of your clientele is Chinese and it depends also if your cook
comes from there and learned how to cook there. It depends also where he grew up so
people get inspired now matter what happens that’s why you have new restaurants out
there like a fusion with a mix of everything.
A lot of Chinese restaurants have different kinds of food like we have Thai dishes, we
have Vietnamese dishes like the rolls. Most Chinese food now tries to do a bit of
everything. You even see an Italian restaurant like sushi so it always evolves like the
classics would be the – chicken, come noodles with fine rice mix and match bowls and
orange beef and – chicken which is popular too. You have the soup, wonton soup, the
egg rolls and – like this. The only thing that’s missing in Chinese food is dessert like most
Chinese own a shop, they don’t have that much – like maybe some neat cheese but
that’s about it and also with Chinese food. I don’t know, some people are not that
demanding. They don’t want fancy Chinese food. It’s not like French or Italian where
some – needs to be fancier. It can taste a bit like fast food.
