Sarah: Hi, everyone welcome to diet.com video. I am your host Sarah and this is our Valentines Day special. Today I am joined by our fitness expert Katrina, she is also a nutritionist and she is going to be showing us a few sweet treats for Valentines Day that will not break your diet as well, is how to make healthy chocolate covered strawberries. So we have tons of food in front of us here, what are you going to show me first? It is delicious.
Katrina: Well, let us do the chocolate covered strawberries first. The reason why they are so great is it is fresh fruit and dark chocolate. They are going to be melt into a pan. So first, you want to do is take dark chocolate, cook in chocolate, pour it to a pan. You want to put on the stove in low heat and you want to cook it so if it is halfway done, take it off the stoves, stir it until all of them are melted together and it has a smooth consistency. It is really shiny and then I will have you take one strawberry. Yes, deep it in.
Sarah: I will take the big guy.
Katrina: Okay, you want to roll it in chocolate.
Sarah: Okay.
Katrina: This is also fun to do with a partner when your about 20 minutes, put it on the plate.
Sarah: I wonder ruin your display.
Katrina: I also have white chocolate here, you can put them in the pan also and just put it on top. Yes, it is good.
Sarah: Okay. Now, we also have York Peppermint Patties, dark chocolate peanut M&Ms, cinnamon hearts and some fancy little lollipops here. Now, why did you pick these candies over all the other different options that are in the supermarkets and in the drug stores?
Katrina: Of all the candy that you can choose from, you obviously want to enjoy Valentines Day and have some kind of treat. These are the healthiest choices, so the York Peppermint Patties are going to run you about 55 calories, easy in there pink in the inside they are really cute. The dark chocolate peanut M&Ms are dark chocolate so antioxidants and some protein and the cinnamon hearts for about 60 of them will be 30 calories or you could have 50 of them and then also the lollipops will only be about 45 calories per lollipop. So, you are not eating a ton of calories, they can be less variety in your candy.
Sarah: And lastly, we have Champaign. Most dieticians or nutritionist say, it is a totally cut out alcohol out of your diet if you do want to lose weight. Where do Champaign stand on that ladder where like from best to worst alcohols for you.
Katrina: It is probably the best for you and it is a lot of fun to drink. It is 90 to a hundred calories per glass, so you can have a couple of glasses and it will fill you up because it is really bubbly. And so, it is your best choice for all the alcohols.
