Siobhan Robins: Choosing your bridal flowers and décor can be one of the most exciting aspects of planning your wedding. The variety in color that’s available seemingly year round now makes your choices endless. You should have an idea of your color scheme before you come to see the flowers as it makes a good starting point for discussing the flowers.
A good Flores will also be add to advice you on the various sets of flowers you need for your wedding such as bottom host, bouquets, table arrangements, and ceremony arrangements. They will also be able to show you flowers that are in season at a time of year that you are getting married and will match or complement your wedding color scheme.
A good flower these days is like a many production team which means you’re not limited to having flowers and terra-cotta vases. You can have ferns, candelabra, silver night lights and even fabric incorporated into your floral arrangements.
So to show some of the wonderful and exciting creations, you can have for your wedding I’ve come here to Moyses Stevens in the heart of London, Sloane Street to talk to Matt Walker.
So Matt, where do you start when a bride comes to see you about wedding flowers?
Matt: The best place has got to be the dress. That is the most one single most important thing of any bride’s day is the dress. They have been dreaming about that dress for how long?
Siobhan Robins: Months.
Matt: So the best place is the dress and that can dictate as in shape, style of flowers. It won’t necessarily dictate color but it will most definitely dictate style and shape where you have a long tiny crown which is the traditional or they have a nice head and tight posing.
Siobhan Robins: So traditionally, a bridal bouquet is usually cream or ivory. Do you have to stick to that do you think?
Matt: No, not necessarily. The rule of thumb knows some people like reds and pinks.
Siobhan Robins: And of course you must not forget the groom in all of this, must we?
Matt: No. You don’t forget the groom. He is just as an essential part of all this. But what we really do need to suffer is what the actual groom is wearing and you can either coordinate that to save with whatever color waist coat or whatever just like the button color. You don’t want anything too big and too clown-like and too over the top.
Siobhan Robins: It would overwhelm with this thing.
Matt: Too overwhelming.
Siobhan Robins: So if inspiration dries up all the grooms that particularly bought about flowers, what would you suggest?
Matt: I would suggest a single white rose.
Siobhan Robins: You can’t go wrong with that. Can you?
Now we can think about the style of the arrangements for the tables and really the options seem limitless, don’t we?. What sort of thing ca you have?
Matt: I mean they’re endless. I mean if your imagination runs right the more, the better. You can have tool silver candelabra dripping in flowers and ivy trailing down. You can have a gothic mob with a big clamp of say peaceful velvety red especially at this time of year. You can have subtle low decorations. You can do baskets, some mounds and include fruit. You could do fruit containers or cabbage leaf containers or you can do colored multi vases that lots of glitter and lots of sparkle to it with a bit of extra height.
Siobhan Robins: One of the things I might absolutely adding them about having at the wedding is great lighting because it just sets the atmosphere. It makes the room and it can highlight the flowers and any other sort of decoration that you have in the room. Tonight, he would decorate to the mantle pieces and even right down into the great here with the candles which just give a lovely warm look to it.
We’ve been sported over tables here because when the candles are lit, it looks really, really effective. So you can see it’s just warm pools of light around the room. I've also uplifted the pillows tonight and dim down the chandeliers. So again, it just gives that sort of intimate feel. And it’s amazing what can be done with lightings. So always discuss that with your venue because it is well worth it.
