Choosing Wine - A Ripe Red Strawberry Evening

For the appetizers of oysters on a half shell with a strawberry vinaigrette, I would like to recommend this Muscadet which will pair very nicely with the briny oysters and sweet strawberry vinaigrette.

Muscadet comes from the Loire Vally in France and it’s made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape. It is crisp and dry and will bring out the lively flavors of the raw oysters.

As for the entrée, the beautiful salad that Cheryl has prepared composed of shrimp, fruit and nuts. I would like to recommend a lighter Chardonnay such as this Chilean Chardonnay which is rich enough to balance with the rich avocado and shrimp that is dry enough to stand up to the crisp of vinaigrette and sweet fruit. A Chardonnay from Sonom in California or one of the countless Australian varietals would be wonderful as well.

For a real treat to balance out this rich meal, we have a Black Muscat to go with desert. Black Muscat is a sweet red wine which will pair very nicely with the chocolate soufflé, fruit and cream. This Black Muscat comes from Australia but they’re also available from California.
