Before we even start cooking, I’m going to get our pot hot so it’s waiting for us. Matter of heat is what we want. And we’re working right next to this stove, we’re going to do our chopping here just dropping in a nice warm pot.
I’m going to coat the bottom with a little extra virgin olive oil and it’s ready to go. I can just fill it as I chop. You go ahead and get some onion in there, and I’ll start out flavors, nice and sweet. Its smoking its screaming hey put something in there.
We’re going to start with the potatoes and the onions because when you’re cooking in half an hour. You got to put things in layer, and whenever I just going to take the longest. In this case our potatoes need to get in there and start working.
I love the potatoes go for about five minutes and then we’re going to layer in our greens because it take the second most time to cook. Put in a little bay, smelling, good already. We’re going to drop a little salt and pepper. I’m going to ahead and pack a couple of close garlic here too I want to throws some of that in. Its smells in the same way we could.
Okay so that’s working. We’ve got our garlic props set way by this stove. Let’s grab some of that ciao. I got a packing time to work with so I’m going to get working on this. How gorgeous this ciao! I’m also got my chorizo here, I’m going to show you what that looks like.
What’s deal with our teal first though because it’s big. I’m going to out of the way. So we got room to work here.
Now lots of people in my neck of the woods have never cooked with ciao, we always had ciao. My grandpa had this huge garden and he love to dark greens and we ate lot of them but I know lot of my friends says why you need here. My girl friend Sony said to me, if you pail a garlic, it is! Pretty one they used to adds a garnish but it’s got a lot of flavor, its got a lot of vitamins, A, C and E, its full of iron because its nice dark green. It’s got folic acid. It just really good for you but it also has this wonderful taste, you know it’s kind of woodsy and mellow, it’s not too bitter and best of all, it cooks really quick.
This looks like a normal amount but it certainly like spinach. You know cooks straight down to enough it. So we’ve got a big bundle here. I’ll wash here ready to go. And let’s just start getting our greens in a pot. It looks like it will not fit but trust me, it will. Just cram it all in there and you’ll be surprise how quick it cooks straight down.
This is the smoked chorizo, so you see lot Portuguese cooking like I was telling you. Okay in a good shape now. You want to make it flat. You just cut the middle bite size chunks. We layered in our teal, full of vitamins and nice dark green color. Remember barely fit in am pot in this way up here now its way down there, five minutes its right there.
Now we’re going to add in all that chorizo or choriz, I mean used that poly about 15 different ways to say Charice is what they saying mystic, smells so good.
I’m going to throw in that garlic we chops. I’ve got one small can of dice tomatoes right out of the pine tree. And again right out of the pine tree, we’ve got a can of garbanzo beans, chickpeas. Again, many names chatchy is what we called in my family. About the liquid right in there with them, they’re better than ravage pea. They have a delicious taste almost kind a nutty; I love it, nice texture too. You find them a lot in Spanish and Portuguese soups and stews. I’ll make training in cooking mix some used of the chickpea, very yummy, toss that chickpeas, right?
A little chicken stock, 46 cups is all you need to that. A quart is good. Quarter delay, you want a nice pick soup.
Okay so now we’re only about half way down with our 30 minute meal and look at that, it’s done, the soup is totally set. We’re going to do is give a little pick every now and again, every couple in minutes. I like to cook it in about ten minutes at this point to just let all the flavors get to know each other.
Our fantastic Portuguese chorizo and teal soup full of vitamins, full of color, full of flavor, 2o minutes to stock. The ciao is full of vitamins and iron. It just smells good. Aside from being good from you, it just smells good. You have to make it because it just smells so yummy.
