Tonya: Hi! I'm Tonya from Dayton, Ohio. What chemical should I be aware of for my child's safety when cleaning his high chair? Paul Sagerman: Tonya, great question. A lot of parents now-a-days are really worried about germs and they actually get a little paranoid about over-cleaning everything. After every meal, clean your child's high-chair, just like you would with table or the counter top with wash cloth and dish soap. About once a month I give high chairs the car wash treatment, take them outside, throw them in the tub, hose them good hard soapy water, use an antibacterial wipe when you are done. Most common cleaning products will have on the label something that says Non-Toxic. Those are probably pretty good to use.
