Male: Hello and welcome to a special Cobra S91 edition of Golf a Lot
Equipment News where we preview the new range of S91 Drivers and
fairways. First of is the King Cobra S91 Driver which comes in F/Speed,
M/Speed, and Pro versions. The Cobra S91 Driver replaces the speed to
LD and the new model sees width of the face reduced slightly of the top
line and leading edge and become more rounded. This brings that the
proportion of the face closer to a 1 to 1 length to width issue that makes
the face more efficient and increases the ball speed at impact.
Looking from above the head shape has been shortened back to front and
the dimples in the crown of the club are being made shallower to reduce
the surface area by 5% that saves weight which can be moved around the
club to improve the center of gravity. There are 3 speed versions of the
S91 driver. The F is for better players with higher swing speeds followed
by the M for medium swing speeds and finally the M offset.
As you go down through the models the center of gravity moves forward
and towards the heel to have the ball get airborne and to remote more of a
draw for all you faders out there. The Cobra S91 heads had been
redesigned to utilize Cobra’s dual rhombus face technology and the new
design certainly looks good at address sits confidently behind the ball and
is easy to align.
In our test the forgiveness of impact was very good and the feel the solid
and making it easy to hit. The draw buyers did its job and we think that
when it comes to value for money, this is one of the best drivers around. It
is available in 9 1/2, 10 ½ and 11 ½ degree lofts depending on the model
you draw for and there are also senior and women’s versions too so the
choice is endless.
Now for all you budding—or out there Cobra has also launched the low
handicappers version for the King Cobra S91 Pro. This is designed for
players with driver swing speed of over 104 mph and promotes a neutral
ball flight so that it’s easier to work the ball either way. The classy looking
black finish hides a carbon and titanium composite heads and includes all
of the design features of the standard S91 Driver.
There are two versions of the S91 Pro, The S91 Pro D has a slightly
deeper face than the S91 Pro S and that will give you a good middle
launch angle with low ball spin. The S version on the other hand has a
shallower face and deeper head with a center of gravity is moved back and
lower for a higher launch with more spin. Both versions are very eye
catching wit their distinctive finish and a feel from the head of impact was
very good. It had a lovely sound too and it was easier to move the all left
or right and then with a standard S91.
Both versions launch it a little lower than the standard version and the Pro
D with it’s more compact head was probably better for those wanting to
reduce their ball spin for a more penetrating flight. Price wise the S91
drivers are heading towards the premium end of the market but the
performance and finish does justify this. There are a lot of great drivers in
the center of which have a little forgiveness but if you prefer smaller
compact driver heads and good looks then the Cobra S91 Pro could be the
one for you.
Complimenting the S91 drivers is the King Cobra S91 Fairway Wood
incorporating all those Cobra’s S91 Driver Technology The S91 Fairway
is setup to promote a slight draw with a high launch and low to mid ball
spin. Available in 3, 5, and 7 wood and FM and M offset versions the new
head design is slightly lighter than previously and this combined with a
new internal waiting makes them very easy to hit from all types of lies.
In our test we found the fuel is great with nice zing sound of impact. The
forgiveness was pretty good too and then it’s easy to maneuver the ball
and for the money this is a very competitive fairway woods. As you would
expect there are also seniors and women’s versions of the S91 Fairway
plus a pro version too. The Cobra S91 Pro Fairway has a more neutral
setup and follows the sleep dark styling of the S91 Pro drivers. It’s
available in a strong 33 or a preferred choice an 18 degree 5 wood.
The pro version looks great at address although you maybe bit off by how
small the head is. It’s not for the faint hearted and you do need to be a
seriously good player to use this club, but if you can hit it out of the
middle you’ll be rewarded with great feel and a lovely sharp makers club.
And that’s all for now so for more information on the Cobra S91 range of
