Cochlear Implant Surgery

Speaker: Okay, let's get it going. So what we are doing now is we'll create the pathway down to the inner ear, where the electrode is going to go. And the last thing it will do is open the inner ear called the Cochleostomy and then we'll be ready to place the device on this side. Probably we wanted more delicate parts of the procedure. Okay, so this is the cochlear implanted cell and there is a magnet with star. These small electrodes will release energy, and that's what produces the sound. So now, we'll slip the device into the area that we have made, and we will then advance it into the opening, and now, we will close the incision. Speaker: We got good stimulation of the electrode 4, and we are moving to electrode 22 and testing is continuing. Speaker: That is excellent news.
