Collecting Model Trains
Hi, I am Joe and I am a writer here on New York City and here I will talk to you a little bit about collecting model trains.
In 1893, the world’s fair actually introduces a couple things. The hamburger, the Ferris wheel and the first scale replica of a model train.
Joshua Lionel Cowen is the first man actually creates the model train. He created it for a department store window and now Lionel trains and the predominant makers of model trains. Started packs for model trains, started from $300 to a thousand dollars and they include the caboose, the engine and electric kit to start your train.
You might want to start purchasing also things like bigger real set houses and some mountains to decorate your train set.
After you got your starter pack, you will go to need a big open space to really create the world that your train existing.
You wanted, sort of thing about what dream world you want this train to drive around then and really take some thought in to how you want to construct it. You might want to start with some simple houses or maybe actually some greenery, it might be your local town or it could be a train driving around the big old bad New York City.
Once you are done with the construction, you are going to become the conductor. Actually, manning the transformer that conducts speed, light and sound for your train set. There are ton of shows and clubs around the world but the most popular is the National Model Railroad Association, which you can find online, with its moniker NMRE.
Enjoy your model train collection; I am Joe Shappa signing off.
