Is this guy for real? His 'advice" is downright amateurish, and, I might add, in error. For example, "starter" train sets can be had for as little as $50. And you needn't have a "big open space" in which to create a model railroad - the corner of a room, a tabletop, or even a book shelf will suffice. Model railroading is a versatile hobby. You can spend as much or a little money as you wish. You can make your model as realistic as you wish. And you don't even need any special talents or skills. There are a plethora of instructional books and videos available, and of course, there are always other model railroaders eager to help. Model railroading truly offers something for everyone.
