Heather: Hi! I am Heather and I am from Florida. I dye my hair often and occasionally bleach and I was wondering if that contributes to hair loss? Amy McMichael: Heather, bleaching can cause some hair loss and the way that bleaching causes hair loss is by breaking the strands of hair. You don’t necessarily see hair coming out by the roots when you bleach your hair because your hair is still growing and is still healthy that way, but the ends will get dried out. Bleaches change the structure of the hair, so you may notice the breakage. If you're having breakage, then ease up on the bleach and perhaps use some moisturizing conditioners.
