Color washing is a delicate technique that maybe use with any decorating style. It’s soft just like
the sheets can we need to create this finish. This is a great opportunity for beginners to really
learn how to manipulate paint. The prost love it too because it’s settle yet sophisticated. Here is
what you need for this decorative furnish, a paint tray, latex paint mix in one part paint, one part
latex glaze, one part water, several china bristle brushes, a piece of chips skin, chase cloth and a
water bottle. This is a wet on we technique which basically means we’re just working on a wet
surface. First step dumping a comfortable size area of the wall with the spot then add a straggle
of paints. Use a shape skin to move the paint around and keeping the edges lately fun. Rounded
is mean create a softer and look them after, I call this up barely there finish so you don’t want too
much texture.
Step two; with the dry brush gently disperse the paint in the darker areas. Working into you can’t
see any brush lines if you want too you can color rush with more than one color but I recommend
to keeping the colors and the same tonality. Work within the wet portion of the wall will add
color to the surrounding areas later. This lap lines here happen when you work too closely and
that’s to an area that you’ve already painted but I’m going to show you how to finish them so
they’re soft like the rest of your finish. Using my basecoat to eight parts paint, one part water I
barely brush the white across the lap line I want to cover then diffuse it throughout the area. That
will dry pretty quickly then I can tackle the next step. These areas that have any color I’m going
to add some color to them. This time I use the ships skin to dub on the paint, they’re authentic
out with the dry brush. My best advice for color washing is not to overwork the paint. It’s the
under saving of this finish that scream style. To me color washing is like soft, floating color it’s
to settle age defects that’s perfect for almost any room in the house.
