Common Headache Locations and Causes

Jessica: Hi! My name is Jessica. I'm from Eddington, Maine. I want to know how do steroid in which my headaches appear on my head, relate to their cause.

Dr. Victoria Pelak: Well, Jessica, you've asked a very complex question. The simple answer is that sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. For instance, if you have a headache that only involves on side, the right or the left that sometimes means it's a migraine, but there are many other causes that can cause one sided headaches. If you look at tension headaches, those are often in a band like pattern over your entire head. But again, there are other causes that can also be in a band like fashion over your head. So, there are times when we can use where your headache is to help to determine its cause and unfortunately other times where we can't.
