Karen: Hi! My name is Karen and I am from Huntington Beach, California, and my question is what is the most common vaginal infection? Anne Moore: Well Karen the most common vaginal infection is Candida or Yeast. And many women experience this throughout the course of their lifetime. So it's not something that is relegated to a particular timeframe in a woman's life. It can be experienced in adolescence, during the remainder of their reproductive lifespan, and even into menopause. A lot of women will seek over-the-counter medications, and that's fine as long as the symptoms are taken care of. The symptoms go away if they do not, then the women does need to go to a healthcare professional and make certain that it is in fact a yeast infection.
