Comparison between Video on LCD and Plasma Television Sets
Male: In terms of technologies between let’s say plasma versus LCD because I know that’s a question that a lot of people tend to have. In terms of pros and cons to you in a practical sense, did it really matter or what sort of things do you think the consumer should be mindful if their trying to make that discussion.
Male 2: There are only a few issues. The first thing to understand is their both the technologies. Plasma is excellent it’s great for fast motions. It got a little bit faster in pause time than LCD. Once your LCD is catching up with that there is a different technology that are coming out like LUD LCD but where going to eliminate those issues.
However, plasma if you put it in a really bright room where there's going to be a lot of bay windows you going to have a ton of glare. It’s a glass surface, no matter what you do with filled with right system to help eliminates some of that glare and maintain contrast but its still going to glare its glass, light reflects of a glass no matter what you do. LCD is plastic there's no glare on it. We got a big light flashing on these screen.
We can hardly see any reflection on the screen itself. So if you bright room LCD is definitely the technology to go with. Got more size flexibility with LCD. You can go down to a smaller size if you got limited space it’s a little bit better. Takes up a little bit less power, so if you are environmentally friendly that is the technology to go with. Smaller sizes are off of your higher resolution with LCD than plasma does.
You know last year we had intended to be LCD we didn’t have plasma’s. This year plasma are launching in 1080 P but 50 inch and above only. So it’s not available in a 40 inch and 46 inch like it is in LCD. And then it comes down to the style of picture LCD are smoother picture.
So, a plasma a sharper picture, so somebody who’s typically used to watching a picture tube and its now converting to flat screen will typically like the picture of a plasma because it is a similar style. It’s a posture-based picture. It is what they’re used to see, so they’ll be comfortable watching that.
If somebody had an old big screen, those big heavy clanking things they have a softer smoother picture that’s more than the type of the style of image you’re going to get with an LCD. So there's going to be more I have to go towards in LCD panels and of course than plasma.
