Female: Diabetes is currently the fifth deadliest disease in the United States claiming the lives of almost 2/3 of all diabetics. Lets us look at the other consequences of diabetes.

In fact, diabetes has taken the lives of some of America’s beloved icons. In her glory days, Ellie Fitzgerald was one of the most recognizable voices in America.

Sadly, the she was diagnosed very late in life with type two diabetes and underwent quadruple bypass surgery as a result. Ellie’s diabetes also caused her failing eyesight and the amputation of both her legs below the knees.
Unfortunately, the complications that Ellie suffered are not rare left untreated or treated incorrectly diabetes can lead to a combination of serious and life threatening effects. Diabetics often suffer from high blood pressure, which can lead to death by heart attacks or strokes. Sometimes, diabetes causes nervous system damage, which can result in lim amputations.
Other common side effects include blindness, dental disease, and sexual dysfunction. A complete list of diabetic side effects can be overwhelming. Sometimes it helps to look at each individually to understand why diabetes causes the complications it does. Up to 73% of diabetics experience high blood pressure which means that their heart have to work extra hard to move blood throughout their body.
As result, blood can get blocked or stopped resulting to a heart attack or stroke. Although diabetes does not cause high blood pressure, having the disease makes it more likely that you will also have this condition. Some complications of diabetes are not life threatening but stills serious. For example because diabetes can affect blood flow to the genitals, man with the disease occasionally experience erectile dysfunction.
While diabetic woman can have a low sex drives and vaginal dryness. Diabetes can affect the blood vessels in the eyes and is the current leading cause of blindness in people over 20. Additionally the excess blood sugar founded in the diabetic snuff doubles the odds that he will develop periodontal disease. Diabetics can also suffer from poor blood flow in their lims, which can lead to nerve damage.
In extremely cases, this can result in lower lim amputations like Ellie Fitzgerald’s. Other minor complications of diabetes are wounds that take too long to heal numbness or tingling on the appendages and bladder infections.
