Mona: Hi! I'm Mona from Nashville and I would like to know if heavy drinking on the weekends has any long-term effects? Julie Schwartz: Well Mona, we do have some research that shows that heavy drinking on the weekends can be detrimental to your health. Immediately, it can cause unintentional injuries and heavy drinking for women is considered two or more drinks at a time. Binge drinking would be considered three or more drinks at a time. So for many people who are really doing binge drinking not heavy drinking and that can lead to alcohol poisoning, pancreatitis, cirrhosis of the liver and a host of other elements later on down in life.
