Question: Should I consult on online hotel rating site for my summer vacation?
Female: I think that it's sort of a mix fab when you do the online rating sites. You have to take that with a grain of salt because you will have people who are writing reviews and are inexperienced travelers, so it was probably a very good experience for them and they’re very easily impressed because maybe it's their first or second experience with a certain type of hotel.
Then you have very experienced travelers who usually stay in a certain caliber of hotels and they’ll for whatever reason sort of wander outside of that, and nothing is going to impress them and nothing is going to make them happy. So what I tell people to look for when you’re looking at a rating site is look for consistency. Are multiple people writing about the same thing? Are multiple people complaining about the same staff member?
And if you start to see 10, 12, 15, then I would maybe pull a socket out. I would also check with a travel professional to see what they have heard. For example, I’ve had clients that would not stay at a particular resort that I had stayed at, I had a fantastic experience at, and I’ve never had a client have a bad experience there. It's been very wonderful as far as destination resort for my clients. But I’ve had clients that would not stay at the resort because of two online reviews, which I think at that point you have to just be careful and take everything with a grain of salt.
