Before we start remember that all the project styles use in this tutorial are available to download for free at our website. Place bitmap image, when our image is selected we can choose embed or live trace, first let's embed our image. To convert our bitmap into vectors choose live trace.
By default illustrator change our bitmap into black and white vector graphic. The results as you can see are unsatisfying. To undo our changes press CTRL Z. Now select our image, go object live trace, tracing option. Select preview and now we can see the default settings, let's add some colors. Change black and whites to color.
You can change for example the number of colors. The size of our file depends on the complexity of our tracing. Let's select six colors, let's add in more small fill, add some blur, okay that’s looking good. Change the minimum area of value and now hit the trace. And now our bitmap is converted to vectors as you can see we can't edit anything to do so we must select expand.
And now our image is fully editable, so let's open our group. We can change the color of our single paths or we can even delete separate paths.
