Cooking Rice
(Rapid Boil Method)
Chris Chandler: Cooking rice! I am actually just going to show you the Rapid Boil Method and what you can do. I've heated the water first because it's base things up a little bit. So I just bring a pan of water to the boil. Maybe fill the pan three quarters full with water and then heat it up with the lid on so that you don't lose the water. Add your rice, I've got about a cup-and-a-half here, which is enough for about six people.
I am using Basmati Rice and to me it's one of the easiest rice to cook. This method of cooking is the Indian way of cooking and you just stir it into the water here and then I am going to place it on the stove and set the time as of seven minutes. After seven minutes, we will come back and I am going to drain it off and then just pop it back in the pan and leave it for just a few minutes and you will see how beautifully fluffy it is.
It's the time to going off for the rice. It's being cooking for seven minutes. So I just removed it from the stove and now I am going to drain it into this, here we go. Drain that of most of its water and then puff it back in the pan. Place the lid on and then leave it like that for about five minutes. So set your timer. Start, and after five minutes your rice will be beautifully fluffy and you can serve it with whatever it is you are going to serve it with, your stir fry or anything else you like.
