Juan Carlos Santana: Hello, how are you doing. This is Juan Carlos Santana here at The Institute of Human Performance in Sunny South Florida, I had the fortune of having a very good friend and an upcoming coach. Right now he is coming down to play with his core ball, this is the new gadget that he invented, it is hot. It's actually everything I have been to, we certainly use it and we just come over here to play with the core ball, we've got players afterwards and we are going to play. So Nick, tell my friends a little bit about the core ball, what was the inspiration and give some of your basic favorite exercises.
Speaker: First of all I appreciate to have me here.
Juan Carlos Santana: My pleasure!
Speaker: This is real simple. As we know you've got two types of movements when it comes to strengthen, now what you are doing, we have unilateral movements, one-sided body movement, one-side stabilizer then we have bilateral movement. Both sides of the body work in the same direction. But if you look at how to move, how boxers go along to punch or how you run, it is just typical, one thing is pulling and the other thing is pushing, and you can get hit with the one too with that second break, it's more powerful, because the left is coming back. So the whole concept is going to engage that with typical movement which automatically is going to make that go.
Juan Carlos Santana: Beautiful! And even if you don't rotate the core, which we do, but even let's say one of the great annotations what we call here, training the invisible, where if you are doing this kind of movement and you have that core fitness that he talks about, you are maintaining isometric stability through the rotational muscles. So it's a great way to train rotation in the access of rotation. We call that kind of invisible, a great rehab tool that allows you to accelerate the rehab to some 30-40% and it's usually the weight of body works anyways because the core rotates but often times it rotates through momentum and it generally exports it in a real type isometric contraction that lasts a couple of milliseconds. So that's one of the reasons that I love this thing that allows you to stay in here or rotate the hips, but either way that core concept sticks with all the moves. So what are your favorite movements, because I think you do some awesome stuff with the things, with the weight and the rolls, show our friends like a five-finger.
Speaker: Well, some of the stuff has to do with cable and bands and I will show you what we can do with the free weights first. This is what's really cool that really can do with any tool product out there right now in market today. All I am going to do, I am going to keep this pretty light, because these are a lot tougher. So put the plates on, lock them, and now we call it a rainbow exchange. I want to keep everything nice and tight. I am going to flip it up, flip it over and back to the center. I want to make it a little bit more dynamic as Carlos was talking about. It can add a little bit of this side move.
Speaker: Notice when Nick is doing this, he is getting a lot of that hip back stand. This shows staying stick with that movement. So, yes it’s an excellent question.
