Lucy McCausland: Hi!I am Lucy McCausland from a.k.a. Spot. I am here today with Jessica
and Stuart big and Ducky. We would like to talk about how to dress your
big dog for Halloween costume contest or parade, and one of the things
about the big dogs is that they always get left out of all of the cute apparel.
So, if you are planning to buying a store bought costume for your big dog,
that can happen for a number of reasons. You may not feel like making
one or have time to make one of your own, you may not have that creative
edge, but if you take your dog with you to shop for the costumes that’s the
best way to get the proper fit et cetera.
Typically, the way to measure a dog for a costume is not unlike measuring
them for dog coat. The measurement is from the collar to the top of the tail
in either inches or centimeters, but again it’s best just to take the dog and
try the costumes on. One of the things you want to consider is, can the dog
perform all the bodily functions in the costume that it does on a regular
walks. The dog needs to be able to drink water, and he needs to be able to
pee. You have to be able to have the same control on the walk or on the
parade with the dog in costume as you do a regular day.
So, I always suggest get the costume, put the harness and collar or lead on
the that you use on a normal walk and may be do a drive run around the
neighborhood or just make sure that its some thing that the dog can move
in. The costume should not bind the dog in any way. It should not choke
the dog in any way, and there shouldn’t be anything on the costume that
the dog can eat that would be some thing that would cause the dog to
choke or might be poisonous.
And so these are the just a few little ways to get your big dog dressed up
for the festivities and again just go try them on and then give it a dry run
and have fun on the parade.
