Counting Eighth Notes – Nate Bosch
Hi, I’m Nate Bosch and today I want to talk to you about eighth notes now I’m going to
talk about eighth notes as they relate to 4/4 time or common time. So I’m going to turn on
the click here and each one of these beats is going to be a quarter note, we’ve talked
about quarter notes. Now in eighth note is just two beats for every one of those beep.
Listen to this—so in each measure we have four quarter notes in a measure, now we have
eighth notes in a measure. Play that again—let’s count it first 1, 2, 3, 4 so now that’s just
the eighth note we count quarter notes 1, 2, 3, 4 we count eighth notes 1 and 2 and 3 and
4 and…
So just take that again, listen to this click and play along. Do that again and this time
we’ll count it 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and… And there you have the eighth note.
