July 13th 2008, 2:20. I am just driving here on the Country Road, North actually right now Port Perry, going towards Uxbridge, and I wanted to show you this nice rolling countryside here, that is part of Southern Ontario. Actually, this area pretty sure is part of the Oak Ridges Moraine, which is a glacial deposit from the last ice age. So what you have here actually is a bunch of sort of Moraine like long longitude of hills that are deposits, and this is a little village now called Epsus.
I wanted to give you an idea of what it looks like here because although Ontario does not have any major, major stunning geological features. This is actually a very, very pleasant country drive here. So my next destination actually is called Uxbridge. I am going down here to Drive 50, which is nice little country town. I just came from Port Perry, which is a beautiful Victorian era town on Lake Scugog and I am curious what Uxbridge looks like, sort of doing a special report right now on short distance getaways from Toronto, and Port Perry is just about 80 kilometers away less than an hour.
You can see lots of forest farms here, beautiful countryside on a gorgeous day and you really don't need to know very far to get away into the country and really enjoying a leisurely weekend away, lots of dairy farms here in the area. So it's a nice scenery, that's quite different from the city obviously, about five million people in the greater Toronto area, and you drive about an hour North or East or West, and in here back out into the countryside, which is just great. Certainly beautiful for getaway!
Now, we're reaching the top of the hill here. Let me see what I can see as we get over the top of the hills, here is another farm on this side, and here is nice rolling hill. Its beautiful countryside, the corn is growing as you can see. This is a corn field on the left side, oh, it's still growing there.
So it's beautiful countryside farmland just outside of Toronto here. Some of here is a little old timer car as you can see it. I am just approaching Uxbridge right now, can't be far from it. There is a big curve coming here, so I am going to stop here right now, but I'll check in just in a while.
