I love cooking with couscous it’s kind of fancy but it’s really fast and easy to make. I’ve got some dates that we’re going to put in to the couscous to give it some flavor.
Alright, we’re going to get the liquid start it for the couscous. I’m going to use about a cup of water and we’ll put that right in and get this heat going. We’ll bring this to a boil. We’re going to mix in also about a cup of chicken stock to layer in some flavor. Here we go. Let’s get this in and to add one more layer of flavor about a tablespoon of olive oil.
I jus finished chopping my dates for my Tunisian menu. They’re going to go into the liquid for my couscous. Now, put these dates in here it’s going to flavor this broth and this water, so I want the couscous goes in it takes it all of that yummy sweet flavor.
I buy my dates in the bulk aisle, so that I only have to buy a little bit just enough for our recipe or a snack and then I don’t have any waste. If you don’t have dates you can always use dried apricots, raisins just something to give the couscous a nice sweet flavor, but dates are very north African, so that’s what I’m using today.
Alright, I’m pouring in a cup of couscous just going to give us one quick little stir and turn off the heat, cover tightly and now this couscous is going to be ready in five minutes that’s all I have to do. How easy is that?
