Mike Agerbo: Of course it's essential now for any business to be connected to the internet if you want to communicate with your customers, your clients, and your employees. Typically how we do that in home offices or work offices is through wireless routers. This is an example of one, you basically plug in your internet connection to this, your wired one and also with the power and this will broadcast a Wi-Fi signal, so that any laptop or wireless printer will be able to access it. Well what if you want to take something like that on the road where there typically isn't an internet cable to hook into?
Well, remember the cell carriers sell Aircards, this is a great example of USB vision and along with the data plan, you know, any where from a $ 35 and up a month. You can plug this into the side of your laptop and get a wireless internet signal not matter where you are, you can be in a taxi cab for example, even apart for that matter. Taking it a step further if you need to connect a number of employees together and you don't have that wired internet cable, you can have look at something like this it's from Cradlepoint and this the PHS300 it's a personal hotspot and it's works in conjunction with USB Aircards.
They've got a number of compactable ones, you can go up to their website and check it out. But essentially what you do is you plug you Aircard into the side of this unit and press docket in here, you've got a personal wireless Wi-Fi hotspot. It's wireless B and G, so you can get the highest speed and it's what they call WiPipe technology, so not only can you have multiple VPN connections at the same time, it's also got built-in encryption or security as well including WEP WPA and WPA2, so people can't hack into your network, and this is kind of cool because you can plug it into cigarette lighter adaptor or the Wafer Power. But it also has a built in lithium iron battery, which is kind of neat.
Say, for example, you are traveling in a van, you've got few employees working on their laptops at the same time, you can now create a wireless hotspot right in that van or if you're out on a work site as well, you are in construction, you can have one of these little unites and you can actually have multiple laptops, even thing's like wireless printers hooked up to the Wi-Fi signal. You can see in this room here I've got my little Subnotebook here. Also got a couple of laptops here and a wireless printer and they are all getting a wireless internet signal from this little unit and it actually works quite well. You can actually go in and change all the settings through your web browser and it is really easy to hookup.
The lithium iron battery actually provides a few hours of battery life, so again if you are traveling in car or any type of vehicle, you don't have to have this actually hooked into a power for it to work. And again in conjunction with your USB Aircard from your cell carrier that's basically all you need. Keep in mind though if you do have multiple people using this you are going to start running up at the date rate.
So you want to make sure that you do have a data plan, so you're paying through the nose. It's from Cradlepoint, it's the PHS300, it's a lithium iron battery powered mobile Wi-Fi hotspot.
